Meeting Called By: Minister(s) Odessia Ford/ Annette Hill
Co- Facilitator- NA
Attendees: Juniata Ford, Katrena Hill, Tracey Karvanaugh, Iler Gilmer, Sabrina Jenkins, Louis Page
Absent: Those absent were truly missed- Hope to see you next week!Last Wednesday night was another glorious session. . We were all reminded by each other that God Is and Has been Good and Faithful to us. We have so much to be Thankful For! Thankfulness, gratitude, and gratefulness: three words to describe a characteristic, a personality trait, and a way of living.
Sometimes it can be really hard to be thankful in our life. These are the times, however, when it is even more important to cultivate gratitude, because we understand that this will help us get through the hard times better than getting angry or upset will . People who are thankful for the things in their lives aren't living an easier life than we do. In fact, many people who practice gratitude abundantly have struggled quite a bit. They, however, understand that it isn't the situation that's the problem, it's how you think about the situation that makes it easier or more difficult.
Everyone had great and very transparent answers from our Group discussion. I am highlighting *Mrs. Iler Gilmore thought challenge to us with her comment & answer - Take a Listen-
Discussion Question - When is one of the times you cannot be so thankful?
Answer - "When some one expect you to be thankful & you know it is not of God"!. . WOW!!!! What a profound and powerful answer . How would we respond to this? How would we rightfully divide our response in truth to God and to this person? (Thank You Mrs. Ile)!
Pastor Latasha proposed questions for discussion:
When Is a time in your life that you were so overwhelmed with thanksgiving that it caused you to act undignified?
What is a time that you find yourself not being able to be Thankful?
It should come as no surprise that people in Scripture call God Jehovah Rapha when they face something a little more detrimental than a stomach ache or the common cold.
In all of these instances, we see that healing itself has many facets. God not only restores us physically, but also spiritually. We often witness this same idea in the miracles of Jesus (Mark 2:1-12).
We may ask God to take away physical pain, and he reminds us that restoration doesn’t just happen at the skin-deep level.
God, our Healer, heals intensively, immersive, extensively and timely.
Remember: God wants us to be whole, prosperous and well “
3 John 1:2 - Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Luke 8:50 ESV But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”
Question- So in times of sickness and poor health, do we (as believers) have a name for God that encapsulates God’s healing power!
Yes- It Is Jehovah Rapha!
.
No matter what the instances below, Jehovah-Rapha heals and restores them all. We have shared testimonies that God will and has done it!!
In our lives, we can call upon the healing name of God in prayer. This can help remind us about how God has stitched the wounds of his people in the past, and he will come to our aid also.
.
Nevertheless, we do need to remind ourselves that although God heals, he may heal us in an unexpected way. We may see a physical ailment and think that our creator should make fixing that his top priority. However, we may have a deeper spiritual wound that can also use a salve. The Holy Spirit will help us.
Our God has many names throughout Scripture. Although we cannot fathom an infinite being in His entirety, we can grasp aspects of his character. We know that the name Jehovah-Rapha carries a number of meanings. God can heal us in far more ways than one.
God does not abandon us in our time of direst need. Even when we think we’ve reached the worst trial of our lives, we can be reminded that we have a God who restores and binds our wounds. Thank You Father!
